Happy 2014 to all…our new years resolution…a fresh approach!
IPL 2014 regulations are clear and IPL 7 is on the horizon. We have taken note of your inputs in terms of player retentions, our strengths and weaknesses etc from the recent 'RCB Game Plan'.
KEY LEARNINGS: (This is what you said)
· RCB batting (53% votes↑) and fielding (74% votes↑) are definite strengths
· Hard hitting lower order batsman (73%↓) and death bowling expert (79%↓) are improvement areas
· Opening batting, fielding within 30 yards and wicket-keeping are team strengths
· Top 3 players are: Chris Gayle, ABD and Virat Kohli (21% of votes each) (next highest are: Ravi Rampaul (6%) and Vinay Kumar (5%))
We are delighted to once again announce that Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers have been retained and therefore we will have one “right to match” card at our disposal at the IPL Player auction in Bangalore come 12 February 2014.
On the technical and support staff side, we are equally proud to announce Dan Vettori as our head coach, Trent Woodhill as our batting & fielding coach and Allan Donald as our bowling coach. We wish them all the very best in strategizing our path for success this year.
Ranji Trophy action: Congratulations to Saurabh Tiwary on smashing his maiden double century (238) recently in Mumbai. Karnataka captain Vinay Kumar scored his maiden first class century (105 not out) against Punjab in Hubli last month. KL Rahul was again in superb form with the bat, scoring his second first class century (133) this season and third overall against Mumbai. Karun Nair scored 105 and Vinay Kumar took 4 wickets against Assam.
International news: AB De Villiers regained his No 1 position in the ICC ODI rankings. Earlier in 2013 he was also the No 1 Test match batsman. Well done AB. Cheteshwar Pujara was named ICC Emerging Cricketer of the year at the ICC 2013 awards ceremony. Pujara’s 153 against South Africa in the 1st test match allowed him to pass 2000 first class runs in 2013. He also recently gained a career best ICC Test ranking of 5th place (851 points). A 5th test century (1st against South Africa) enabled Virat Kohli and Team India to be competitive in the 1st test at the Wanderers. Vijay Zol once again showed his class by scoring a century against Pakistan u19 to clinch the u19 Asian Cup for India u19’s.
What can you expect with a fresh approach? Nothing less than 100% commitment to working together and hard in trying to achieve our goals! In my opinion, a top 4 position in the IPL is a must and with your continued support I do not see why it cannot happen.
Stay connected with your team of choice…RCB, RCB, RCB!!!
