Heavy rain played spoilsport at Ranchi as the fourth ODI between India and Australia was called off after just 4.1 overs of the Indian innings, who were chasing a target of 296. There was a slight drizzle at the start of play, but it didn't hamper the Australian innings as they completed their entire quota of 50 overs.
James Faulkner’s heroics with the bat (64* off 29 balls) coupled with sensible batting display from Adam Voges (76*) helped Austraila to a 4-wicket win against India in the 3rd ODI at Mohali.
Karnataka is known to produce quality bowlers who have further shone in their career for India at the international level. Although, India has always been a spin-friendly country, it has also given birth to promising fast bowlers with the zest to succeed on the big stage.
India continued their winning momentum as they registered victory against Zimbabwe in the 3rd ODI of the Celkon Mobile Cup by 7 wickets at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday. The Men in Blue have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in this 5-match series. In a nerve wracking game, India beat Sri Lanka by 1 wicket at the Queen's Park Oval on Thursday to lift the Celkon Mobile Cup 2013.
RCB recently had many reasons to celebrate as our players demonstrated their talent and were recognised for their potential around the world. We are proud to celebrate the success of Vijay Zol – one of our young up-and-coming batsmen. Vijay was recently named the captain of the India U-19 cricket team to play against Australia. He is currently down-under delivering good batting performances with 46 in the first match, followed by 128 off only 131 balls in the second and 64 in the third.
Firstly, I would like to thank RCB fan Suresh Ananth for highlighting, in his comments on my last BLOG, that I did not acknowledge the sterling bowling performance delivered by Vinay Kumar in Pepsi IPL 6. I do read all BLOG comments and must offer my sincere apologies for overlooking Vinay. I certainly agree with Suresh - Vinay bowled beautifully for much of the tournament and realized 23 wickets. He was definitely part of our success on the field.
After winning the RCB ‘FFC 5’, Mahesh Nambiar’s sketches have become a rage. Nambiar, who has received accolades for his amazing sketches of RCB players was named as the official RCB Sketchstar right before the IPL. You can find his sketches in our Sketchstar gallery. Here are excerpts from an interview with the talented artist.
Pleasing a crowd that braved a 3 hour rain delay, Virat Kohli and Zaheer Khan turned in emphatic displays as the Royal Challengers Bangalore clinched a 24 run win over Chennai Super Kings on Saturday night. RCB are tied with Sunrisers Hyderabad on 18 points apiece. Though SRH have a game against Kolkata left their Net Run Rate is at very poor -0.031 to RCB's +0.457. A loss would bring that number down further and RCB could advance to the playoffs ahead on the basis of a better NRR.
One of the highlights of the 2013 IPL has been RCB’s bowling attack. The M Chinnaswamy offers god bounce for bowlers at times but it’s the batsmen who normally have a great time thanks to the quick outfield and short boundaries. But this year, batsmen have been put on the backfoot and the bowling attack has achieved this despite missing Zaheer Khan in action. Vinay Kumar has led the attack well and his efforts have fetched him the purple cap. He spoke to IPLT20.com after the win against Rajasthan Royals, here are the excerpts from his interview:
Royal Challengers Bangalore were beaten by the Sun Risers Hyderabad on Sunday night after a Super Over finish. Sun Risers’ youngsters helped their team level with RCB’s 130 run total to bring up the 2013 Pepsi IPL's first tied game before their imported pros sealed the game in the Super Over.
The Kolkata Knight Riders picked up their first win of the 2012 IPL in their effort, a 42 run win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Tuesday.
