Jason Holder won the toss in a crucial encounter in Group B. India made just one change to their lineup bringing in Mohammed Shami for Bhuvneshwar Kumar while Kemar Roach came into the WI side at the expense of Suleiman Benn.

World T20: West Indies rout Bangladesh in one-sided encounter

Having been put in to bat first, West Indies struggled to put bat on ball on a slow pitch. However, their innings was bolstered by Dwayne Smith who came out all guns blazing with his 43-ball 72. Chris Gayle looked scratchy at the other end, playing his slowest T20I innings, but he hung on long enough till the two accounted for a 97-run 1st wicket stand. Smith was the first one to depart, as he top-edge the ball straight into the fielder's hands.
