This express bowler’s claim to fame was a 153 kph delivery in the 2011 Vijay Hazare Trophy final that instantly made the cricketing world sit up and take notice! Varun Aaron, a right-arm fast bowler, joined the MRF Pace Academy when he was just 15 and has since then maintained his desire to hit the deck consistently.
Aaron began his career with his domestic team, Jharkhand and also represented the India Under-19s. Pace has always been his top priority, which explains his admiration for Caribbean pacer Andy Roberts. However, soon after his Ranji Trophy debut, Aaron suffered from stress fractures of the back. Though, his injuries did not deter him from bowling quick. Aaron’s smooth run-up and uncomplicated bowling action is easy on the spectators’ eyes and his control on those 140 plus kph deliveries leaves everyone in awe. The youngster was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, but he only debuted in 2011 for the Delhi Daredevils. His impressive returns with the Indian Emerging Players squad down under earned him a national call-up in the same year. Only 7 ODIs and a Test old, Aaron is still a novice in international cricket.
At RCB, opportunities galore for this talented kid, who will be eager to grab it with both hands!
