25 year old batting machine KL Rahul will return to competitive cricket after a 4-month long break owing to a shoulder injury that made him miss the 2017 IPL, Champions Trophy and India's tour of the West Indies. Rahul has been named in India's Test squad that takes on Sri Lanka from July 26 in the island nation.
Rahul had played a crucial hand in India's Test series triumph over Australia in February-March earlier this year. The opener scored 6 consecutive fifties in his last 6 innings against a potent Australian bowling line up on difficult batting tracks.
Rahul had posted a video on twitter of him batting in the nets and desired to represent his nation as soon as possible.

His opening partner Murali Vijay will also return from injury while opener Abhinav Mukund has kept his place despite Shikhar Dhawan's tremendous limited overs form. Triple centurion against England, Karun Nair had to face the axe with Rohit Sharma making a comeback in the Test team.
The bowling looks strong with the top 2 ranked bowlers Jadeja and Ashwin returning to the format that they've dominated along with a third spinner in Kuldeep Yadav. Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma form the pace bowling unit while Hardik Pandya is their seam bowling all-rounder.
16-man squad: Virat Kohli (capt.), M Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, Abhinav Mukund.
