The Bold Trio 2.0

It was thrilling to learn that our leader, Virat Kohli will be returning to #PlayBold in Bengaluru for the 2018 edition of the VIVO IPL. Mr 360 and his apprentice- AB de Villiers and Sarfaraz Khan make up the trio retained by a franchise renowned for living Bold.

Virat has been RCB's talisman in many ways. Having entered the franchise as a prodigious 19 year old, his evolution from someone with raw talent to the epitome of batting consistency and fearless leadership has been remarkable!
He holds the record of scoring the most runs and centuries by a player in a single season, a whopping 973 runs and 4 tons coming in the 2016 edition. He is also the 2nd highest run-getter of all time in the IPL, and all of his 4418 runs are scored in the RCB jersey. He also holds the distinction of being a part of 3 IPL finals and leading the side in 2 of them.

AB has been a part of RCB since 2011. While his match-winning abilities are well documented, his lightning work as a fielder or wicket-keeper and his off-field charisma is what enthralls so many supporters at the lively Chinnaswamy Stadium.

While Sarfaraz's retention has surprised many and perhaps even divide opinions, the backing clearly stems from the fact that the skipper puts in immense trust in Sarfaraz being able to deliver the goods. The think-tank backs him to the hilt and his abilities are unquestionable, as it was when he became the youngest ever player play an IPL game in 2015. He was just 17 then, and at 20, still has his entire career ahead of him to continue his fearless approach to the game.

An official release from the RCB management speaking about the trio who've been retained in RCB colours for 2018.

"For the 11th season of IPL, we are pleased to retain Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Sarfaraz Khan. Virat has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore since the inception of the league, and is the team's captain - on and off the field. The camaraderie and team work between Virat and AB de Villiers has been the backbone of the team for several seasons and we want to build on that. Sarfaraz is one of the players we believe will rise to great heights, not just in the IPL but in world cricket. We believe that together, Virat, AB de Villers and Sarfaraz embody the 'play bold and fearless' outlook that is inherent in RCB, and we are excited to retain them for IPL 2018."
