RCB's Strength and Conditioning Coach Shanker Basu is set to rejoin Team India as Strength and Fitness Coach for the ICC Champions Trophy in England in June.
Basu had resigned in December at the end of the series against England citing personal reasons. He was replaced by Anand Date who trained the team through the LOI stretch of England's tour, the one-off Test against Bangladesh and the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.
His work with Team India is spoken for by skipper Virat Kohli and Head Coach Anil Kumble. He is credited for the raised levels of fitness among the current squad which just completed a gruelling 13 Test home season before disbanding for the VIVO IPL 2017.
The BCCI has approved Basu to travel with his family on tours upto thrice a year as the team enters a stretch of away commitments.
Basu originally joined team India in June 2015 and introduced methods like Dexa Scan, load monitoring app as well as Yo Yo training, stating that he wants to take the fitness of the team to the next level. Basu was last seen giving his expert training advice to our fans on the Duroflex Bold Is Fit section on the official RCB mobile app.
