India eye tour whitewash against lacklustre Lankans

Kohli's led Indian side will chase a complete whitewash in the final game of their Sri Lanka tour on Wednesday. On the other end, after being completely outplayed in Tests and ODIs, the hosts will be hoping to pull off what at present looks like a miracle - to stop the domination of the Indian team and win.

But the shortest format is more unpredictable and prone to upsets. For India, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit will return at the top with Kohli at number 3. The middle order battle will continue for the 2 spots between Rahul, Pandey and Jadhav.

Ideally, Rahul at 4, Dhoni at 5 and Jadhav 6 would've been the management's first choice middle order but with Rahul's lack of form and Pandey's opportunity seizing knock, no conclusion can be drawn.

Hardik Pandya at number 7 adds strength to India's already brawny batting line up apart from providing a bowling option in place of jersey number 10 Shardul Thakur.

The spin bowling department might prove to be a good headache with Axar Patel doing a fine job in the ODIs. But Kohli likes to attack and he's done it in the past by fielding two leg-spinners so a possibility of a Chahal-Kuldeep repeat may be on the cards too.

Jasprit and Bhuvneshwar make up the fast bowling department with both capable of yielding early wickets and producing late lethal yorkers.

Sri Lanka will see Upul Tharanga take over the captaincy from Angelo Mathews in the shortest format with a few changes from the 50-over team.

Leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay and Dasun Shanaka have been called up along with Akila Dananjaya in the T20 team. The Sri Lankans have omitted Kusal Mendis, Vishwa Fernando and Dushmantha Chameera with veteran Lasith Malinga leading the pace battery alongside a returning Suranga Lakmal.

The Lankan batting fire lacks firepower but is capable of pulling off a surprise on their given day. For this to happen, Niroshan Dickwella, Dilshan Munaweera and captain Upul Tharanga will have to shoulder the hosts by taking responsibilities to string in partnerships.

All in all, only time will tell if India goes home undefeated.
