Parthiv Patel is a left handed wicket-keeper batsman, who has represented RCB earlier in the 2014 edition of the IPL. Parthiv made his debut for India back in 2002, becoming Test cricket's youngest ever wicket-keeper at 17 years and 153 days. In November 2016, he was called up to the Indian team and played his first Test in 8 years against England after missing 83 Tests! This demsonstrates his fighting ability and he has never given up on playing for his country, despite MS Dhoni and now Wriddhiman Saha ahead of him in the pecking order.
He's always in and around the national setup with consistent performances in domestic cricket and even recently played two Test matches in South Africa. Having played cricket for so long, he possesses tremendous experience and cricketing knowledge, which led to his appointment as skipper of Gujarat. In the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season, he led his team to victory over Mumbai which was the first for Gujarat and also became the first captain to lead his team to all three major domestic titles!
His 57* (45) v MI at Dubai was his standout knock in the lone season he played for us and then went on to impress for MI. When he joined RCB in 2014, AB de Villiers said that he was relieved to be playing alongside Parthiv because he found his chatter behind the stumps irritating! AB de Villiers will be thanking his stars once again after RCB bought back Parthiv to the Chinnaswamy.
