I don’t want to jinx it but I think there’s a big one coming up – Rahul Dravid on Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has had a tough outing in the ongoing T20 World Cup so far. However, if there is one change that he is still sticking onto, that is an aggressive mindset right from the word ‘go’. With the kind of surfaces in West Indies and USA, Kohli’s salvo up front didn’t really yield the dividends yet but he has not hesitated in playing those shots.
Indian head coach, Rahul Dravid, whose final assignment is that of the T20 World Cup final on Saturday where India meets South Africa, pointed out that there is a big one around the corner from King Kohli. Despite the blockade, Kohli hasn’t backed down and that is exactly why Jimmy believes that there is a storm brewing on the horizon.
Talking after the game, Dravid said, “You know with Virat, the thing is, when you play a slightly high-risk brand of cricket there can be times when it doesn’t come off. Even today, I thought he hit a good 6 to set the tempo but he was just unlucky that the ball seamed a little bit more. But I love the intent, I love the way he went about doing it. It sets a good example for the group as well if he’s willing to do it”.
He further added, “And you know, for some reason, I don’t want to jinx it but I think there’s a big one coming up. I’m just loving his attitude and that he’s committing himself on the field – I think he deserves it”.
As the summit clash approaches, VK is going to be a pivotal player in the Indian line-up, particularly considering the kind of pace battery that South Africa brings to the table. Apart from that India’s top-order has looked really good and will be hopeful of delivering the payload when it matters the most.
