With 2372 runs including two hundreds and 61 wickets including a hattrick in eight seasons of the league, Shane Watson is an IPL institution.
He was the player of the tournament in the very first IPL in which he made 472 runs and took 17 wickets, taking Rajasthan Royals to the title.
Watson has fourteen fifties, scored from different parts of the batting order to go with his two centuries and his hattrick came against the Sunrisers in 2014. He has been the allrounder with the biggest impact on the IPL.
Watson has also been crucial for Australia and was the standout player in their 2009 Champions Trophy win and 2012 World Twenty20 performance.
A big hitting batsman, Watson can open or bat anywhere in the middle order and has the maturity to finish games. His medium pace is inviting but canny, stifling lines have fooled many batsmen and he has often turned games on his bowling.
His batting compliments RCB's fearless approach, his bowling lends the team serious balance and he is as safe a fielder as they come. Here’s wishing him a long and successful stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
