India-W seek further advantage in T20I series as Sri Lanka hope to bounce back
23 Dec, 2025 By Editor

After a runaway win in the series opener, the Indian women will be eyeing a chance to bolster their grip on the ongoing T20I series as they lock horns with Sri Lanka for the second T20I. An all-round performance from the hosts saw them seal the fate of the contest without breaking a sweat.

With the 2026 Women’s World Cup in sight, India will be hoping to get their preparations right while also trying to find the perfect starting XI for the biennial fray. With Jemimah Rodrigues in dream nick, she will be looking forward to stretching the run while Smriti Mandhana will be eyeing a conversion of the start that she got in the first game.

Sri Lanka will be heavily reliant on two of their top players namely Chamari Athapaththu and Nilakshi de Silva. However, with young guns like Shashini Gimhani turning heads in international cricket for all the right reasons, the visitors also command a well-balanced squad at their behest.

Venue Watch:

The surface in Vizag promises decent help for the batters in the second half of the contest. With the track exhibiting hints of spongy bounce and some early movement as well, the team batting first will have to bat smartly in order to tot up a big number on the board. With dew coming in the second half, the surface will ease out and batters will have full value for their shots.
