Virat Kohli smashes record books with century in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Virat Kohli stood tall in the opening round of Vijay Hazare Trophy as Delhi outmuscled Andhra Pradesh despite a monumental total on the board. Ricky Bhui’s first-innings century went in vain as Delhi rode high on the shoulders of Priyansh Arya, Virat Kohli and Nitish Rana to secure the win in just 38 overs.

Kohli’s ton in the Vijay Hazare Trophy forced the record books open as he cruised past the Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli leapfrogged Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest to score 16000 runs in men’s List A, racking up the milestone in just his 330th innings. Tendulkar achieved the milestone in his 391st innings, eventually concluding his glorious List A career with 21999 runs from 538 innings.

Kohli also now holds the record for being the fastest man to cross each block of 1000 List A runs since the 10000-run milestone. He also entered the elite club of the fastest to 16000 runs with other iconic names including Gordon Greenidge, Ricky Ponting, Graham Gooch and Viv Richards following suit.
