I go out solely focusing on scoring the runs – Richa Ghosh on her instrumental cameo in the Asia Cup final
The Indian women pulled off a staggering win against Sri Lanka to secure their eighth Women's Asia Cup crown. A scintillating batting performance featuring aggressive striking from the opening duo of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma found its capping moment through Richa Ghosh and Gunalan Kamalini as India posted 183 on the board.
Ghosh smashed 17 off 13, a cameo instrumental in steadying the Indian innings to avert any middle-order crisis before Kamalini took over the reins. In a video posted by the BCCI, Ghosh, in conversation with Deepti Sharma - one of India’s most outstanding bowlers throughout the tournament - opened up on how the entire team helped her shape her innings.
Ghosh said, “The situation and the role that the team has given me, I go out solely focusing on scoring the runs. When you execute what you plan, you feel amazing. In the beginning, I didn’t get good start in the first two or three games but sir (Amol Muzumdar) helped me. Harry di (Harmanpreet Kaur) helped him and the entire team guided me on reading the wicket and what adjustments could help me.”
