Cricket has always led by examples when it comes to good deeds. As the world continues to fight COVID-19 pandemic, cricketers have come forward to support the cause. After KL Rahul, Mushfiqur Rahim and Azhar Ali decided to let go of a piece of personal history for the cause, former South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs is auctioning the bat with which he scored his highest ODI score – 175. Gibbs’s 175 came against Australia in the historic run chase when South Africa hunted down Australia’s 434 at Johannesburg.

Last week, KL Rahul auctioned his cricket gears to support the vulnerable kids during the ongoing pandemic.

Rahul's 2019 World Cup bat fetched Rs 2,64,228. While his helmet went for 1,22,677, his pads garnered Rs 33,028, ODI jersey for Rs 1,13,240, and his T20 jersey for Rs 1,04,824. Rahul also managed to raise Rs 1,32,774 with his Test jersey while his gloves were bought for Rs 28,782. The auction was conducted in collaboration with the Bharat Army and the proceeds will go towards the Aware Foundation.

On the other hand, Pakistan Test captain Azhar Ali decided to auction the bat he had used during his unbeaten 302 against West Indies during the 2016 series in the UAE. Ali has also decided to auction his jersey from Pakistan's title-winning 2017 Champions Trophy campaign up for auction. The funds generated will be used for COVID-19 relief work in Pakistan.

Cricketers from across the world have come forward to support the fight against the pandemic. During an Instagram session, a few days back, RCB captain Virat Kohli and batting mainstay AB de Villiers had decided to auction their cricketing equipment to support the relief effort.
