New Zealand hopeful of 37 days of international cricket: NZ Cricket Chief David White

New Zealand has been one of the most successful countries in dealing with COVID-19 pandemic. The country recently hit the 100-day milestone without community transmission. With the situation now seemingly well under control, New Zealand cricket hopes to host a full summer of cricket starting later this year.

As per the FTP, New Zealand is scheduled to host West Indies and Pakistan for a Test and T20I series, Bangladesh for ODIs and T20Is, and Australia for a short series.

The composition of the tours is subject to change. The positive for New Zealand cricket is that the now-postponed ICC Women’s World Cup leaves a sufficient window for the host nation to rejig their calendar. New Zealand Cricket hopes to host cricket over a 37-day summer.

"We are making tremendous progress. I was just on the phone to the West Indies, they're confirmed, Pakistan is confirmed, Australia and Bangladesh... so 37 days of international cricket," NZC chief David White told reporters in Auckland. White is confident of replicating the bio-bubbles model as is being successfully executed by England. "We'll just be held up for a week or two while we work with the government agencies on the managed isolation but they've been extremely supportive,” added White.

New Zealand Women’s team, the White Ferns will be back on the field soon, as they take a short trip to neighbouring Australia, as duly confirmed by White. "The White Ferns will tour Australia in September and then the Australia Women's team will tour New Zealand in February. We are just working through the content but probably five ODIs and three T20I," White said.
