Virat Kohli might have learned the nuances of captaincy from MS Dhoni who handed over the reins of the team to him, but it’s believed that his approach towards the game and captaincy style is similar to ex India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.

Former cricketers keep on weighing in on the fact that Kohli’s India is a transformed team which likes to express and play a fearless brand of cricket. Former England cricketer David Llyod shared his views on Kohli’s captaincy style, elaborating on how the 31-year-old has taken the current team to a different level after Ganguly brought about a change in the mindset during his era.

"I think Ganguly has been a massive influence on Indian cricket and Virat Kohli has taken it to another level. Kohli apart from his greatness as a player is also a great leader and he fears nothing. My own view of Kohli is that he is there to win matches and not to accumulate runs for himself. And he leads by example because he is the best," Llyod said in a live interaction on Sony Ten Pit Stop's Facebook page

Appreciating how Ganguly took the world to notice Indian cricket, Lloyd said, "I think he (Ganguly) has been a catalyst for Indian cricket to be a worldwide force. India in India is so difficult but you always felt that (against) India away from home you had a chance. There was an axis of Ganguly, (Rahul) Dravid and (Sachin) Tendulkar. Now if you've got these three, you bring in a quality spinner and a couple of good pacemen, now you are in business worldwide," he added.

And now under Kohli, it’s for everyone to see how the Indian team has gone from strength to strength boasting of a complete team, comprising of one of the best pace attacks in the world that are a force to reckon with even in overseas conditions.
