A positive sign for us – Rajat Patidar on RCB’s resilience against Delhi Capitals
Royal Challengers Bengaluru fought hard but lost to Delhi Capitals in a thrilling match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. A contest that went down to the penultimate ball of the innings had ample drama and a solid fight from the RCB bowlers to make it a tense battle of two brilliant outfits. Eventually a late lunge from David Miller flipped the narrative in favour of the visitors.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, RCB captain Rajat Patidar opened up on the total they posted. He underlined that the side fell short by 15-20 odd runs but also heaped praise on RCB’s bowling unit for doing significant heavy lifting to take the game to the final over.
Decoding RCB’s innings, Patidar said, “Yeah, that was really close, but I feel that we were 15-20 runs short. The way we started initially, especially VK bhai and Salt, I think they have given a good start, but from there after, I think 12 or 13 overs, I think we lose wickets in a couple of overs and that put us on the backseat.”
Shedding light on how RCB defended until the 19th over, Patidar added, “I think in first inning, that was a bit tacky, I would say. But I think the way we stretched in the last over, I think that's a positive sign for us. But I think I was just discussing with the bowler that be clear whatever you do. I think it's a long tournament, but I think we will go back and introspect where we put the errors and we'll rectify them."
