India’s injury cauldron had another addition to it as Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be ruled out of the last Test against Australia in Brisbane. News agency PTI reported that Bumrah was ruled out due to an abdominal strain.

Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out due to a fractured thumb. Even Hanuma Vihari is a doubtful due to a hamstring injury. Both suffered their injuries during the third Test in Sydney which ended in a draw. Meanwhile, Jadeja has undergone a surgery and will be out for a few weeks.

According to the report, BCCI sources claimed that Bumrah’s scan showed a strain and the management has decided not to risk him for the last test as it may aggravate the injury ahead of an important home series against England.

"Jasprit Bumrah suffered an abdominal strain while fielding in Sydney. He is going to sit out of the Brisbane Test but is expected to be available against England," a BCCI source told PTI.

In the absence of Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav, India were heavily relied on Bumrah in their pace bowling department. They already have handed two debuts in the form of RCB pacers Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini in the last two Tests.

Shardul Thakur is expected to replace Bumrah in the XI in the last Test. India also have T Natarajan who is yet to feature in a Test. In any case, India will field one of their least experienced pace bowling attack in Brisbane as Shardul Thakur has just one Test under his belt.
