The 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is scheduled on 24 December at the new Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad. Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary of the BCCI has reached out to member associations via email inviting them to the AGM.

As per various reports, the decision to introduce two more teams in the Indian Premier League will be taken. Another significant agenda on the chart will be the election process for the next BCCI vice-president.

The appointment of Indian representatives to the International Cricket Council and three new national selectors will be discussed during the AGM.

In the mail, accessed by ANI, the secretary wrote: "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will conduct its 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, 24th December 2020. The Office Bearers have decided that the crucial meeting will take place at Ahmedabad's Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera."

Time for cricket to restart in India

"The pandemic has unleashed unprecedented challenges but we have done our best to ride this tide. With your unflinching support and cooperation, we were able to pull off a tournament of the magnitude of the IPL. Time has now come to get back on our feet and resume our cricketing operations at home. I firmly believe that with discussion and dialogue, we will be able to turn the corner. Let us strictly follow the guidelines and adhere to the protocols set for the AGM,” Shah wrote.

All state association representatives will undergo RT-PCR tests to detect any signs of COVID-19.
