BCCI announce India’s squad for Sri Lanka Tests; Ravindra Jadeja returns
BCCI announced the squad for India’s upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, and it features a flurry of seasoned campaigners. Shubman Gill will spearhead the Indian charge against Sri Lanka in a two-Test series set to begin on 15th August.
The big news for the Indian side is undoubtedly the return of Ravindra Jadeja, who comes back into the squad for the first time since January 2026. His last international appearance came in an ODI against New Zealand.
The iconic all-rounder sustained a tennis elbow injury in May and has been out of cricket ever since.
KL Rahul will be deputising for Shubman Gill and forms part of a star-studded batting order comprising Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel.
India’s spin department will be led by Jadeja, with support from Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar and Saransh Jain.
Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudharsan are also part of the squad, but their availability will be subject to fitness clearance. India’s pace attack will be rounded out by Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar.
India will be desperate to return to winning ways in the longest format after suffering setbacks against New Zealand and South Africa at home, while also succumbing to Australia Down Under. India will be playing Sri Lanka in the latter’s backyard for the first time in almost nine years.
