Chris Morris: The perfect No.7 RCB have been looking for

Some days in sports just don't go our way. On a particular day, the team thrives. But the same team will have to build from zero the very next day. Yesterday was one such occasion. It is always important to acknowledge that the losses can provide us with solutions which can be rewarding in the longer run. Challenges are what makes sport fascinating, and conquering them becomes more significant.

However, there was a silver lining in yesterday's loss against Kings XI Punjab. Chris Morris was relentless with his approach, showcasing his all-round credentials. RCB were left reeling at 136-6, the Protea all-rounder had the task of finishing the innings on a high to give the bowlers something to bowl at. He has not disappointed RCB this season. Has he? Morris took the long handle to the KXIP pace attack, effortlessly depositing the ball to all crevices of the ground. His 8-ball stay at the crease was garnered with three sixes and a solidarity boundary. The blitzkrieg at the end steered us to a respectable total of 171 on the board.

On the bowling front, Chris Morris, with his hard and nagging lengths, managed to keep a strong grip on things by only conceding 22 runs out of his four-over spell.

Here are some extracts from Chris Morris'  post-match press conference

On the team's fightback

We had enough runs, maybe we leaked few boundaries, maybe our game-plan was slightly wrong; but for us to get the end like that, to get it to the last over, to the last ball, quite proud of the boys for sticking there when the game was completely gone by the time second-last over was bowled," Morris said in the post-match press conference.

On his blitzkrieg at the end

“I did well enough. Obviously, the wicket was slower towards the end. When I came in to bat, it was about just hit the ball, whether the wicket is slow or not, hit the ball as hard as you can and hopefully (it) connects,” he concluded.
