India have conjured all-round showdowns in the group stages which saw them booking a spot in the semi-final of the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. Of course, there were challenges, especially when things started looking bleak after they suffered three losses on the trot but the Women in Blue turned things around brilliantly, eventually securing a spot in the last four.

Apart from India’s batting wonders, the bowlers have also put up a clinical show, knitting together a decent balance. Before India take the yard for the semi against the formidable Aussies, here’s a quick look at their leading wicket-takers.

Deepti Sharma has been at the forefront of the Indian bowling battery with 15 wickets. She is the joint leading wicket-taker alongside Annabel Sutherland of Australia. Sharma has an economy rate of 5.43, with her best figures of 4/51 coming against England.

Apart from Sharma, N Shree Charani has also been excellent. Playing only her first Women’s ODI World Cup, she has racked up 11 wickets, at an economy rate of 4.91. On the pace front, Kranti Gaud has also been stellar with eight wickets to her name.

Bowling at a decent economy rate of 5.31, Gaud has been sensational in isolated bursts while establishing herself as a proven wicket-taker. She can be a key component in India’s master plan when they take the battlefield against the mighty Aussies on Thursday.
