Deepti Sharma rises in latest ICC Women’s T20I rankings
Deepti Sharma’s rich vein of form yielded handsome rewards as her haul of eight wickets in the ongoing Women’s T20 Asia Cup saw her climb two places to clinch the sixth spot on the latest ICC Women’s T20I rankings.
India’s N Sree Charani continues to lead the bowling charts after bolstering her position at the top with seven wickets from three outings so far.
India's spin trio has been mighty dominant in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup. Apart from Deepti and Sree Charani, Prema Rawat has also found excellent rhythm, taking five wickets.
Deepti led the charts in December before N Sree Charani took over. The 70-point gap between Deepti Sharma and Sree Charani highlights the brilliance woven by India’s spin duo. Sharma leapfrogged Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong with her stellar show in the Asia Cup so far as India prepare for the upcoming semi-finals.
India’s vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana became the highest ranked batter in the latest ICC WT20I rankings, stationed in fifth spot. Her match-winning innings against Hong Kong rewrote the history books in women’s cricket. Shafali Verma (7th) and Harmanpreet Kaur (10th) were the two other batters who found themselves in the top ten batters as well.
