Follow the process day in day out – Bhuvneshwar Kumar on his longevity in the IPL

Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the first-ever pacer in IPL history to claim 200 wickets in the tournament.

His current tally reads a staggering 226 wickets at an overall economy rate of 7.71. Only Yuzvendra Chahal tops him by seven wickets while his closest contender is Sunil Narine with 207 wickets.

Talking on the Big Basket presents RCB Podcast, Bhuvneshwar Kumar opened up on the secret of his longevity. He underlined the fact that it isn’t just the hunt for laurels but a process in place laced with countless crests and troughs that eventually has made him the legend that he is today.

Bhuvi said, “When I look back, it’s an achievement playing for almost a decade for the country and in IPL. But when I look back at how I achieved it, even I don’t know. It’s just that you follow the process day in day out and ups and downs have come as well. It’s not that it has only been an upward curve. I have been injured, I have been out of the team as well, so I think that I have seen everything.”

He further added, “From that only I believe that maturity came, experience also came. But as DK said before the auction (DK said ahead of the IPL 2025 auction that only Jasprit Bumrah is better than Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the time), I saw that video. Thankfully, I am able to pay back to the team and contribute in making the team win.”
