Happy birthday, Nadine de Klerk – RCB’s Super Woman in their cricketing multiverse of madness
Today we celebrate the birthday of a super woman, one who can wreck the bowling trains in her sleep while batting, one can who leave the batters sweating profusely, and a gun fielder, flying around like the sorcerer in RCB’s multiverse of madness. Today we celebrate the 26th birthday of Nadine de Klerk.
In what is a little-known fact, cricket wasn't exactly Nadine’s first choice of sport. We have heard about AB de Villiers gunning for the skies in rugby, tennis and athletics, we have heard about Ellyse Perry donning the national threads of Australia in the football World Cup as well, and now we talk about another multi-talented superstar who excelled in javelin throw and field hockey as well before cricket came calling. She is our Nadine de Klerk.
However, at the age of 17, de Klerk made her choice and decided to take up cricket in a full-time professional capacity. And since then, it has only been a ride on a wave of ascendancy. Despite the initial days being a challenge, Nadine made herself at home in no time playing for South Africa.
In the 2020 T20 World Cup semi-final, she claimed a three-fer against an Australia that almost looked untouchable in terms of their cricketing finesse. With 934 runs from 58 WODIs at an average of 25.24 while coming to bat at number seven or eight and 68 wickets, Nadine de Klerk has been a force to reckon with. With 667 runs from 70 WT20Is and 52 wickets to back it up, she is almost priceless in cricket’s fastest lane.
An ardent admirer of Jacques Kallis, de Klerk has already shown the world what she is capable of. Her ruthless fightback against India in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup was another testimony of her grit and gumption while her sensational performance against Mumbai Indians in the WPL 2026 opener was just an extension of the sparkling brilliance that she brings to the platter.
We wish you a very happy birthday, Nadine.
