I preferred to celebrate the fact that we were there in a final – Andy Flower
Being in a final hits different and RCB made it to the big stage in the IPL 2025 season after a gap of nine staggering years.
The previous time RCB made it to the IPL summit clash was in 2016 where they were pipped by Sunrisers Hyderabad in a high-octane run-fest. So, the occasion of returning to the grandest stage of all after years of missing out the mark felt different.
Talking on the teaser of Big Basket presents RCB Podcast, RCB’s Head Coach, Andy Flower, opened up on how he is not a believer in the fact that the finale is just another outing for the team. He made it clear that the team had gone through a lot and every final appearance should be celebrated.
Andy said, “I am not one of those people that subscribes to the phrase, it's just another game when it comes to a final. Not at all. I prefer to celebrate the fact that we're there in a final. That is why we train so hard and why we put in so much thought and energy and sweat and heartache into either decision-making or training. So I think embracing the reality of that and celebrating the fact that we're in the final and that it's not just another game should be big.”
