I was really stoked to be picked by RCB – Nadine de Klerk
The Royal Challengers re-signed Nadine de Klerk in the latest WPL auction for a price of INR 65 lakhs. Nadine de Klerk was coming into the tournament on the back of some hot form in the World Cup where she troubled India twice. Her reinduction into the RCB side raised excitement levels straight away of a solid addition to the middle-order, while her all-round flair was already being talked about in the highest possible manner.
Talking to Mayanti Langer on Big Basket presents RCB Podcast, Nadine de Klerk opened up on her feelings after being picked by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru again. She also picked her favourite player in the setup while highlighting the excitement about playing alongside two of the best players in women’s cricket.
Revealing her excitement about being picked at the auction, Nadine de Klerk said, “I was worried about the auction, but I remember I was at the WBBL, we played an away game and I was like, initially, do I need to watch it or do I not? Always a bit stressed out with these things because you don't know how it's going to work out, but I didn't know about the reactions or anything, but I was really stoked when I saw that I got picked for RCB and pretty excited to be back where I played my first WPL basically, so pretty nice to be back in there.”
Picking her favourite at RCB, Nadine said, “Well, I think it will probably be Richa. Yeah, she's one of the best hitters in the women's game that I've seen, and I've especially had the ability to walk in and just go hard from ball one. You know, like the hard thing in cricket is to walk in and just smoke the ball. And she does that really well. So, and obviously she's done really well for RCB as well.”
She concluded by talking about her chemistry with Richa, adding, “So I think that combination towards that back end, I think it can be really exciting for RCB. And then obviously having Smriti up top and as our captain as well, as we spoke a lot about calmness, and I think she's probably the pinnacle of that is just being really calm as our leader. And she's had an exceptional year as well. Yeah, really exciting to be back playing among some of the best players in the world.”
