India skipper Virat Kohli managed to hold on to his 5th position in the latest ICC rankings for batsmen, while his English counterpart Joe Root made a jump of two places to be at the 2nd position. Just behind Virat Kohli is another India batter Rohit Sharma, in the rankings led by New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.

There are three Indian batsmen in the top 10, with Rishabh Pant occupying the 7th spot. Behind Pant is Pakistan skipper Babar Azam who moved up two spots to reach the eighth position among batters.

KL Rahul, who was the Man of the Match in the Lord’s Test, too has gained 19 slots to reach 37th. Rahul’s best Test ranking has been 8th which he attained in 2017.

England pacer James Anderson has gained a place to be placed at 6th while Mohammed Siraj has made significant gains to jump to the 38th spot, a place below England’s Mark Wood. Pat Cummins continues to be the leader followed by Ravichandran Ashwin in the second spot. The only other Indian bowler in the top 10 is Jasprit Bumrah at 10.
