Important to capitalize on big opportunities: Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant turned out to be the ultimate hero for India in the last Test at Brisbane. Pant’s heroics helped India pull off an unlikely win in the Test, helping them seal the series 2-1. But Brisbane Test was not the first time he had done something remarkable.

In the previous Test in Sydney, he almost did something similar before perishing in his pursuit of hitting one out of the park to get to his hundred. After Pant’s departure on 97, India were forced to revisit their strategy and had to ultimately be content with a draw after some serious stonewalling from Hanuma Vihari and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Having returned to India, Rishabh Pant has now shared his view on the Sydney Test that saw him score 97 off just 118 balls. Speaking to Sports Today, Rishabh Pant said that had he spent another 30 minutes at the crease in Sydney, India would have managed to win the Test. The youngster also revealed that his innings in Sydney helped him focus more in the 4th Test in Brisbane.

"It was a setup from the last game. I missed out on a hundred but I realized one more thing. If I could have played half an hour or one hour more, we could have won the match, that was a possibility. You don't get big opportunities every day, but getting a big opportunity in the very next match?! It's important to capitalize on that. I focussed on that," Pant told India Today's Consulting Editor (Sports) Boria Majumdar.
