In what was a year for the batters, Bhuvneshwar Kumar defied it all and stormed through the defences of batting stalwarts. Kumar enjoyed a terrific IPL season with 28 wickets at an economy rate of 7.95. He missed on the Purple Cap by a solitary wicket as Kagiso Rabada walked away with it.

Talking on RCB’s Trophy Quest – The Second Act, RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat opened up on how good Bhuvneshwar Kumar was throughout the season. He also highlighted the changes made by Bhuvi during the season and how it worked out perfectly for RCB’s pace ace.

Mo said, “Last season was my first season with Bhuvi, and I was incredibly impressed with him as a bowler and as a person. Watching him and our pace attack last year was amazing. But actually this year, I think it's one of the best. He's bowled even better this year than last year.”

Explaining the differences from the last season, Mo added, “He, I think, was probably quite inspired and motivated by last season and the success that we had, because I think he gave his fitness a renewed shift this year and worked even harder on his body, and I think we got the benefits of that this year.”

Bobat concluded by saying, “I think his speeds were up and he bowled. He, you know, didn't miss games. His body coped with what he was putting it through. You know, I think we've taken the most wickets in the power play all season across teams, and he probably would be a heavy contributor to that.”
