India hopeful of sealing Test series against West Indies with statement win

India got off to all the right notes in the first Test against West Indies as they registered a monumental victory. All their departments came together in a show of dominion as they romped over the technically undercooked Windies in a span of just three days.
They will be setting feet in the capital with an intent to seal the series and do that in style. With the limited-overs Australia tour coming up, clean sweep against the West Indies will do the Men in Blue a world of good in terms of momentum. Despite the visitors unfolding in front of India’s formidable forces, they have got some fine talent in their set-up.
The Islanders have been deprived of some serious firepower with the injury of Shamarh Joseph but the presence of Anderson Phillip, Jayden Seales and Jomel Warrican does offer the visitors a decent look in their pace unit. Alick Athanaze did exhibit promise in the first Test but couldn’t convert it into something of substance. India will need to watch out for these names when they take the yard, hoping to snuff out any possible act of defiance from the visitors.
With the first Test already pocketed, India might make a few changes to the side which will provide some serious gametime to the youngsters.
India might also rest Jasprit Bumrah to accommodate Prasidh Krishna while keeping the rest of their bowling unit intact. Missing out on the WTC final berth in the last edition, Shubman Gill and company will try and make the most of this series to give their win percentage a decent boost for the ongoing cycle.
Venue Watch
The surface at Arun Jaitley Stadium has always been a bouncy one with decent carry in it. In the first two days, the seamers will be making merry but as the game progresses, the surface tends to slow down and that will bring the spinners into the act. However, it has got good juice for the batters with the bounce usually being true, thereby making it an intriguing contest between the willow and the leather.
