India raze Sri Lanka in T20I series finale to complete clean sweep
India pummeled their way through in the T20I series finale, securing a clean sweep of Sri Lanka as they finished 2025 on a high. After things got bumpy in the center, an excellent knock from Harmanpreet Kaur coupled with Arundhati Reddy’s incredible power-hitting set the tone perfectly for the Indian women in the last game of the series.
Winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bowl in Trivandrum. India had early challenges, losing the likes of Shafali Verma (5), G Kamalini (12) and Harleen Deol (13) in no time at all. It was the arrival of their captain, Harmanpreet Kaur that steadied the ship at one end, despite Sri Lanka chipping at the wickets constantly.
Kaur played a crucial knock of 68 from just 43 balls, keeping India in the race while late cameos from Amanjot Kaur (21) and Arundhati Reddy (27*) saw the hosts powering through to a formidable total. With 175 runs in the bank, the bowlers needed to get their discipline in play to keep Sri Lanka at bay after what was a resounding batting performance from the visitors in the last game.
Arundhati Reddy struck early and got the big wicket of Chamari Athapaththu (2) to kick start proceedings for India. However, a solid show from Hasini Perera (65) and Imesha Dulani (50) allowed Sri Lanka to settle into the chase. The duo put up a stand of 79 runs for the second wicket before Amanjot Kaur could get the better of Dulani.
The fall of Dulani precipitated a sudden avalanche of scalps for the visitors as they lost Nilakshi de Silva (3) and Kavisha Dilhari (5) in no time at all. Perera kept the fight going but with lack of proper support from the other end, she eventually succumbed to pressure as Shree Charani rattled through her defences.
Once Perera fell, Sri Lanka blew at a pipe dream and the Indian bowlers completed the task of securing that fifth win without any further ado. All six of their bowlers claimed a wicket apiece, leaving Sri Lanka well short of the finish line. India won the game by 15 runs to complete the whitewash of the visitors. Harmanpreet Kaur was the Player of the Match for her phenomenal innings while Shafali Verma walked away with the Player of the Series award for scoring 241 runs.
