India vanquish England in one-off women’s Test to create history at Lord’s
India completed history in the boldest fashion as Lord’s witnessed their rampant run in women’s Test cricket. India secured bragging rights in the one-off Test, beating England by 270 runs - a margin that will create ripples in cricketing lore for years to come.
A show of all-round dominance against the hosts at the Home of Cricket saw Harmanpreet Kaur and company deliver a fine performance in all departments.
The visitors started the day needing four wickets to win while England needed to score 327 runs, stationed at 130/6. India struck early on Day 4 as Sneh Rana got the better of a set Amy Jones (54).
From there, Sophie Ecclestone offered lone resistance (50), but the rest could only delay the inevitable. India eventually got the job done within the 63rd over as they wrapped up England for just 186. Ecclestone was the last one to fall, putting an end to England’s misery.
Sneh Rana was the pick of the Indian lot with figures of 4/42 while she had help from Sayali Satghare, Kranti Gaud and Deepti Sharma who claimed a brace each. India snatched a historic win by a mind-blowing 270-run margin as their undefeated record in England in Tests simply extended by another chapter. Kranti Gaud bagged the Player of the Match award with a tally of seven wickets.
