India-W eye important momentum against Bangladesh ahead of World Cup semi-final
The Indian women's cricket team will be taking to the yard in the group stages for the final time as they lock horns against Bangladesh in both the teams' last group stage clash ahead of the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. Before India lock horns against Australia in the semis, the clash against Bangladesh will provide them the much-needed leeway to build some serious momentum.
Coming on the back of a massive victory against New Zealand, India will be simmering with confidence. The opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal have been dominating the show with incredible control and aggression while the return of Jemimah Rodrigues showed a lot of promise. In a video posted by BCCI earlier, Mandhana talked about peaking at the right time, which can be a boon for India after three consecutive defeats from very close quarters.
Bangladesh who are stationed at the bottom of the points table, will be desperate to leapfrog Pakistan into the seventh position. With just a solitary win from six games, they will be hopeful of concluding their World Cup campaign on a high. However, given the kind of form that India is in, they will have to dig pretty deep if they are to pull off a humdinger upset.
Venue Watch:
Navi Mumbai has presented us with quite a few high-scoring encounters. The surface has been massively conducive for the batters and one can expect another runfest when India meets Bangladesh in their last group stage encounter. The surface has true bounce, making life a lot easier for the batters. However, the new ball will be doing its fair bit which might need a certain amount of caution from the willow-wielders. Yet, all of this could go out of the window if rain persists, with showers predicted to impact the match at some point.
