India-W to play South Africa-W in a five-match T20I series ahead of T20 World Cup
The Indian women's team are slated to play South Africa in a five-match T20I series ahead of the latest iteration of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to commence on June 12th in England. The five-match series between India and South Africa will be played from April 17th and will continue until April 27th.
Durban will be playing host to the first two T20Is, scheduled on April 17th and 19th while Johannesburg will be hosting the following couple of encounters which are to be played on April 22nd and 25th. The final T20I will be played in Benoni on April 27th.
CSA Director of national teams and high performance, Enoch Nkwe said, “Facing a team of India's quality so close to a World Cup is exactly what the Proteas Women need at this stage of the preparation. It gives them an opportunity to test themselves against a top-level opponent, fine-tune their combinations and ensure they are executing their plans under pressure. This series will play a key role in sharpening the team's readiness ahead of the T20 World Cup."
Ahead of India’s tour to South Africa, they will be travelling Down Under for a multi-format series against Australia. Following their outing in South Africa, they will head to England to participate in a three-match series against the hosts of the World Cup. India and England have been clubbed together in Group 1 of the tournament alongside Australia, Pakistan and a couple of other qualifiers.
