With the International Cricket Council [ICC] delivering a verdict on the longstanding issue of the T20 World Cup, the BCCI made its stance clear by confirming the Indian Premier League.

The IPL GC chairman, Brijesh Patel, announced on Thursday that the tournament will be held in UAE. The two-month cricketing extravaganza will commence on September 19 with the final scheduled for November 8.

Speaking to Jatin Sapru on the Star Sports show entitled 'Cricket Connected,' Gautam Gambhir, said that the IPL would change the mood of the country.

“It does not matter where it goes but if it (IPL) goes to UAE, it’s a great venue to play cricket in any format and plus most importantly I think it’s going to change the mood of the nation as well," Gambhir was quoted as saying.

The 38-year-old also admitted that the forthcoming season of the IPL would unquestionably be bigger than all previous seasons, given the circumstances induced by the pandemic.

“It’s not about which franchise wins or which player scores runs or which guy takes wicket, it's simply changing the mood of the nation. So this IPL probably will be bigger than the rest of the IPLs because I think this is for the nation," Gambhir further added.
