It felt like the right combination – Suryakumar Yadav on India's crucial win in Hobart
India managed to level the five match T20I series against Australia after a clinical chase at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Chasing a 187-run target, India rode on collective brilliance from the batters who all contributed with some crucial runs as the visitors got home with nine balls to spare.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav opened up about the feeling of winning the toss after a long time while heaping praise on individuals like Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh.
Shedding light on the importance of the toss, SKY added, “Yes, it felt like we’d lost 19 or 20 tosses in a row, so it was great to break that streak. Winning the toss was important today, and I’m really happy with how the team performed.”
Talking about the individuals, SKY added, “Those guys were practising really hard and waiting for their chance. Washi showed great flexibility, Jitesh contributed well, and Arshdeep was outstanding. It felt like the right combination tonight. Yes, they’re a fantastic pair (Bumrah and Arshdeep)- a bit like Shubman and Abhishek up top. Bumrah does his job quietly, keeps it tight, and Arshdeep capitalizes from the other end. Together, they’re a really lethal combination.”
He concluded with a word of promise for the upcoming games and said, “It’s (series at 1-1) set up beautifully. We’re heading to a new venue, so it’ll be a fresh challenge, but the boys are confident and enjoying their cricket.”
