The countdown to the World Test Championship final has begun. Team India is set to face New Zealand in the crucial match, which gets underway on June 18th. The inaugural edition of the ICC event will be played at the Ageas Bowl Stadium in Southampton.

Former India wicketkeeper-batsman and BCCI General Manager, Saba Karim believes that if pacer Jasprit Bumrah can find his rhythm against the Kiwis, India will have the upper hand.

Bumrah’s top form would be quintessential for India’s success in England

"At this moment, the form Jasprit Bumrah has shown in the last 3-4 IPL matches, I have full belief that if Jasprit Bumrah shows good form in the World Test Championship match, our chances will increase significantly," Karim was quoted as saying during a segment on India News.

Bumrah is the premier pace bowler for Team India, says Karim

"Jasprit Bumrah is the premier pace bowler of the Indian team at the moment and he is a player who represents India in multiple formats. So, he always has the pressure to perform and to remain fit. Bumrah has always performed in Test matches. He is a unique type of bowler, it is very difficult to pick him,” he said.

The Indian pace bowling unit for the WTC final comprises the likes of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. It is worth noting that the 27-year-old has already established himself as the leader of this stacked and impeccable line-up.

"Along with that he has the pace, he bowls good short deliveries and because of that slowly and steadily Jasprit Bumrah's dominance in international cricket is going on increasing," former national selector Karim added.
