On Thursday during the first T20I between Windies and Sri Lanka, Kieron Pollard became the eighth cricketer to hit 6 sixes in an over. The West Indies captain is only the third cricketer after Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh to hit 6 sixes in an over in international cricket.

Sir Garfield Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whitely, Hazratullah Zazai and Leo Carter are the other seven batsmen who have achieved this feat.

"I felt after hitting a couple of sixes, I understood how the pitch plays, it was important to be positive and play your shots. Back yourselves to clear the boundary,” Kieron Pollard said.

Interestingly, Akhila Dhananjaya, the bowler who got hit by Pollard’s blade for 6 sixes, scalped a hat-trick that had put the hosts on their backfoot. This ideally shows how the course of a cricket match can change in just a single over.

"A couple of things went through my mind before the sixth ball, I thought should I go for the six or take the 30 runs in the over, he went around the wicket and bowled it onto my pads, I told myself 'Wait, Polly, take a chance That's how I have played my cricket all along, especially against the spinners," he added.

The South African power-hitter, who became the first man to hit 6 sixes in an over in international cricket, congratulated Pollard on his remarkable achievement.

The Sixer King, Yuvraj Singh set the stage on fire in the inaugural T20 World Cup where he became the first player to hit 6 sixes in an over in the shortest form of the game welcomed Polly to one of the most elite club.
