Legendary Australian cricketer and popular commentator Dean Jones passes away

Former Australian cricketer and a renowned Cricket Pundit Dean Jones has passed away at the age of 59. Jones who was part of the popular IPL commentary panel “Dugout” was in a bio-secure bubble in Mumbai. According to reports, Dean Jones suffered a massive cardiac arrest which led to his demise.

A veteran of 52 wins and 164 ODIs for Australia, Jones was a key figure in the Australian team of the 1980s and the 1990s. He was the player of the match in the famous tied Test in Chennai in 1986 between India and Australia. 

Post his playing career, Dean Jones became a popular household name in India for his work as an analyst with his “Professor Deano” persona. Dean Jones’ tactical acumen also earned him coaching stints in the Pakistan Super League Islamabad United, a tournament which his team won. Jones returned to the TV screens in India where he was an analyst for Star Sports.

RCB captain Virat Kohli expressed his shock at the untimely demise of the Australian legend.
