List of records toppled by India in their victory against New Zealand in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025
India-W secured a clinical win against New Zealand last night to ensure their qualification for the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. A solid 212-runs stand between Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana set the tone right for the Women in Blue. An incoming Jemimah Rodrigues (55-ball 76*) further compounded the woes of the White Ferns as India powered back to winning ways.
A flurry of records were toppled as India managed to power past New Zealand in Navi Mumbai. From individual milestones to team feats, the history books were re-written. Here’s a list of all the feats and records which were achieved or surpassed last night in the DY Patil Stadium.
· India racked up their highest total in the history of ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, surpassing 330 which came against Australia in the ongoing iteration itself.
· India’s 340 is the second-total ever against New Zealand in the antiquity of WODIs. England’s 347/5 is the highest-ever number recorded against the White Ferns which came in Canterbury in 2021.
· Smriti Mandhana’s brilliant 109 saw her completing her 14th ODI century. With this ton, she is now only one hundred away from equalling the most ODI centuries by a woman cricketer.
· Smriti also equalled the record of most hundreds in women’s international cricket, levelling the feat of Meg Lanning as the duo share first spot with 17 centuries each.
· Pratika Rawal completed the mind-blowing milestone of 1000 runs in WODIs, becoming the joint-fastest woman to reach this feat, equalling the record of Lindsay Reeler which was set in 1988.
· Smriti Mandhana hammered 5194 runs as an ODI opener, which took her beyond the tally of Suzie Bates who boasts 5088 runs at the top, propelling the RCB skipper to the peak of the list.
· Mandhana’s and Rawal’s partnership of 212 runs is the highest for India for any wicket at Women’s World Cup. They shattered the record of the 184-run stand for the fourth wicket between Smriti herself and Harmanpreet Kaur which came in 2022.
· This is also the highest ever partnership against New Zealand in WODIs, bettering Sarah Taylor and Lydia Greenway’s stand back in 2012.
· Smriti Mandhana completed her fifth century in 2025 yesterday, and she is tied with Tazmin Brits for most centuries in a calendar year.
· Mandhana’s tally of 1259 runs is already topping the record charts for being the highest individual run-scorer in a calendar year in ODIs while Pratika Rawal’s tally of 976 is second on the list, with the latter overtaking Belinda Clark.
· This was the seventh century stand for Mandhana and Rawal, which now stands parallel to Mithali Raj and Punam Raut’s haul of seven century stands in ODIs.
· Five of Mandhana and Rawal’s seven century stands have come in 2025, making it the joint most by a pair in a calendar year, levelling the tie alongside Australia’s Belinda Clark and Lisa Keightley's.
