Royal Challengers Bangalore’s director of cricket operations Mike Hesson thinks that on some of the grounds in the UAE, 150-60 will be good competitive totals.

Hesson thinks that it’s all about having the ability to adjust to the conditions on a particular day and then execute the plans accordingly.

“We have loads of information on these grounds but we also need to have the ability to adjust to the conditions on the day as well. It will play its part. Obviously Chinnaswamy is a little different than what we have over here. Chinnaswamy is a great batting wicket, skids on nicely, small boundaries, and high scores.

“I think over here there will be some grounds where 150-60 will be a good score and all three (venues) will be different. Different but same,” he said.

Over the years, the cricket pundits have believed that RCB’s death bowling is a concern. However, Hesson assured that the team has acquired some new members and has addressed the issue.

“A lot of talk around finishing the innings with the ball in the past and we have got some really good, experienced players in that space. We also feel that we can improve on the players we’ve already had, and make them better. Also, completely different conditions here now. So, in terms bowling at the death, it will be quite different bowling at Abu Dhabi than what it is at Chinnaswamy… the kind of lengths you bowl and all those things,” said the 45-year-old.

However, Mike added that the season is not going to be about relying on just one or two players but the whole squad.

“We also need to maximize the playing group. You certainly won’t hear us talk about one or two players inparticular; for us to perform as a team we are going to rely on the (whole) squad. And we are going to rely on some players that maybe have not done a massive job in the past; having to stand-up and do that and if they are given that opportunity, we will certainly back them,” concluded the master tactician.
