Mike Hesson reveals the secret to RCB's success

The Royal Challengers Bangalore will be taking on the Lucknow Super Giants for their eliminator quest after finishing fourth in the points table. Just ahead of the big day, RCB director of cricketing operations, Mike Hesson opened up about various topics around the playoffs.

He revealed the secret behind RCB’s three consecutive play-off appearances and would also talk about what exactly goes on in the players’ minds when they are a part of big games.

Talking about the secret to qualifying for three consecutive play-offs, Hesson said, “I think it is about some real consistency about how we go about at work. So, you try and limit those ups and downs, that happens in any IPL. It’s all about being calm under pressure, what’s your responses under the pump. Do you panic, do you make a whole lot of changes or do you believe what you are trying to do?”

 “A lot of work goes behind the scenes in terms of making sure we are already clear of how we are going to play our cricket and also about who are the people that can fulfil those roles. They will have their ups and downs and we can live with that. Because we know that they can work overtime and overcome those lows," he explained.

Hesson would be the proud gaffer when RCB takes on the Super Giants to grace the first stepping stone towards the finals. It won’t be an easy fight for sure but then the journey didn’t seem easy either. All good things come with time.
