My strength is calmness and how I back my instincts – Rajat Patidar
Rajat Patidar has had an incredible journey as the RCB captain. He won the IPL title in his very first year as skipper, and RCB has once again made the cut for the first qualifier in IPL 2026. A win over Gujarat Titans can propel them to their second consecutive final, which will be quite a feat.
Talking in the pre-match presser ahead of RCB vs GT, Rajat Patidar opened up on his captaincy journey. He was vocal about how helpful and supportive the management, coaching staff and senior players have been toward him.
Heaping praise on the ecosystem and how it has impacted his captaincy, Patidar said, “To be honest, I don’t need to do so much extra. Our management, coaching staff and senior players have a lot of experience and that is helping me a lot as a leader.”
Explaining the help he gets from his seniors, Patidar added, “I get so many ideas from the likes of Virat Kohli, Devdutt, Jitesh, Hazlewood and Tim David. Their ideas and experiences help me a lot and I try to communicate as much as possible. My strength is calmness and the way I back my instincts.”
He also had a special word about how impactful Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been in shaping up RCB’s bowling unit this year. Patidar stated, “I always say that Bhuvi is an experienced bowler and he knows his strengths. The way he talks to the junior players, especially the bowlers, makes his presence in the team very important.”
RaPa concluded by saying, “In the IPL, it is difficult for bowlers and sometimes you get hit, but what matters is how confident you are and how much clarity you have about your role.”
