Patience pays dividends – Malolan Rangarajan on the prized signing of Jess Jonassen
One of RCB’s latest additions to WPL Class of 2027 was that of Australian all-rounder, Jess Jonassen.
A 5-time ICC Women’s T20 World Cup winner. one ICC WODI World Cup and a Commowealth Gold medallist was signed by RCB for INR 40 lakh.
The leading wicket-taker for an Australian spinner in WT20Is will be adding immense depth to the spin department while also intensifying RCB’s middle-order for the upcoming WPL 2027 season.
Talking in a video posted on RCB’s socials, head coach, Malolan Rangarajan opened up on the prized addition of Jonassen and how her inclusion adds immense firepower to the RCB squad.
Rangarajan said, “With Jess Jonassen, we are obviously very happy. Improves our team massively. Gives us an option of left-arm spin in the powerplay and also very very handy with the bat, either at top-order or middle order. She’s an experienced player, has won tournaments around the world, has played for Australia for a very long time. She is a solid player that we were looking for. We had to wait for a while but I guess patience pays dividends. We are very excited to have JJ in the team.”
