Priority is to conduct India vs England series in India: Sourav Ganguly

England is scheduled to play five Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is against India from January to March. However, the current situation owing to the COVID-19 pandemic has likely reduced the chances of this series happening in India, and the host of the Dream11 Indian Premier League 2020, the United Arab Emirates may have become a designated alternative.

Speaking to the press in Kolkata, Board of Control for Cricket in India’s President Sourav Ganguly told how optimistic the board is to conduct this series on Indian soil.

"Priority is to make this (series against England) happen in India. We will try to make this happen on Indian grounds. The advantage in UAE is they have three stadiums (Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai)," Ganguly told reporters in Kolkata, as quoted by PTI.

The 2020-21 Indian domestic season is scheduled to begin in November post IPL 2020.

"Everything is fluid. It's been hard for the last six months to keep everything in order. You want your cricket to happen. You want lives to get back to normal, there are players involved. But you also want to have a close look at the COVID situation," he said.

Dada assured that the BCCI is making every effort to make the domestic season happen with the health and safety of everyone involved a priority.

"We are monitoring it. We want to have our domestic season. We have all the combinations, situations ready in our mind. We will try and make it happen as much as we can,” he added.
