The Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered their first defeat of the WPL 2026 season as their batters faltered against the Delhi Capitals. RCB came into the game with one change as Arundhati Reddy came into the side in place of Prema Rawat. DC won the toss and asked RCB to bat first.

Despite a fine start as Smriti Mandhana (38) led the show, the Royal Challengers soon found themselves in hot waters. Grace Harris (9) was the first one to fall as Marizanne Kapp claimed her. It was the fall of Smriti Mandhana next that triggered a collapse and RCB never really recovered from the shock.

Georgia Voll (11), Gautami Naik (3), Richa Ghosh (5), Nadine de Klerk (5), Arundhati Reddy (2), Sayali Satghare (3), Shreyanka Patil (7) failed to even come close to the surface from where they could have steadied the RCB ship. Radha Yadav (18) was the only warrior in RCB’s middle-order as they managed to tot up 109 on the board with the surface being a tricky one to brave.

Needing a solid start, Sayali Satghare dealt a double whammy up front to remove Lizelle Lee (6) and Shafali Verma (16), reducing DC to 24/2. However, Laura Wolvaardt (42*) took over the reins and steered the Capitals to safety. Jemimah Rodrigues (24) came up with a crucial cameo as DC cruised to the finish line without much fuss.

Despite the defeat, RCB stayed at the top of the points table. DC secured a seven-wicket victory despite a valiant enterprise from Sayali Satghare. Marizanne Kapp was the Player of the Match for her excellent all-round performance.
