India will be kickstarting their 2026 ACC Women’s Asia Cup campaign with a clash against Thailand in Dubai.

The Women in Blue will have a lot riding on this tournament after their premature exit from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year.

India’s head coach, Amol Muzumdar, made it clear that the time is ripe for the women’s team to chase trophies, following up on the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup win last year.

Talking in the pre-match presser, Muzumdar emphasized on the room for improvement that the Indian team has.

Muzumdar said, “We don't pay too much attention to the form that you are talking about. But at the same time, we know what scope of improvement this team has got. There is a huge scope of improvement. This is a young side. I think, if you look at it, we are trying to play some good cricket, good aggressive cricket. And from here on, we will try and set the tone for the next six months.”

Talking about the group, Muzumdar added, “This group has been a special one. There is no doubt about it. We have done well in the ODI set-up. We have done well in the Test matches that we have played. In the last five Test matches, we have won four of them. They are hungry for success. They are hungry for winning some tournaments. Every tournament is important. Every tournament is crucial for this set-up. This set of players are really hungry for success. You would be able to see that in the coming future."
