Vijay Merchant, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma - Mumbai has always been at the forefront of producing myriads of talent across generations.

In 2017, Mumbai unearthed a consistent vein in Shivam Dube. The all-rounder made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy season but didn't quite live up to the odds.

In 2018, the Mumbaikar redeemed himself by racking up 632 runs in 8 matches, helped by 2 centuries and 3 half-centuries, and also accounted for 23 wickets. Dube's performance in the Ranji Trophy had a good impact on the Indian selectors and also garnered huge interests from multiple franchises. The Bengaluru franchise broke the bank and acquired the services of the all-rounder for a sum of 5 crores.

A well-built right-handed batsman and a medium pacer by trade, Shivam Dube gradually grew in stature after a fair amount of exposure in international cricket. He was also conferred with the Lala Amarnath Award for his all-round exploits in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy.

Fact - On the eve of 2019 IPL auction, Shivam Dube gave a timely reminder of his prowess. The left-handed batsman hit 5 sixes in an over against Baroda.

Numbers that Matter

  • 1012 - The 26-year-old has scored 1012 runs in 16 matches with an average of 48.19 in First-class cricket.
  • 19th March 2019 - Representing RCB, Shivam Dube made his IPL debut against Chennai Super Kings in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League.
  • 111 - The Southpaw has scored a total of 111 sixes in competitive cricket.

The Big Breakthrough

Since August 2019, Shivam Dube has been in sublime touch, the stints with India A proved to be fruitful for the youngster. He scored a total of 335 runs in just 7 matches at an average of 47.75 and also fetched 5 wickets, which was enough to convince the selectors.

Promoted to bat at No.3 position, Shivam Dube's 54-run knock against West Indies provided a blueprint of his capabilities with the willow.

With a fair amount of international matches under his belt, Shivam Dube's all-round dexterities will add a lot of balance to the RCB squad.
